Cognitive Behavioral Psychotherapy (CBT)
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a structured, evidence-based approach to mental health treatment. It focuses on identifying and purposefully changing maladaptive thoughts and behaviors. Through targeted strategies and collaborative effort with a therapist, clients learn to shift negative patterns, fostering more adaptive, positive ways of being.
CBT is widely recognized for its efficacy in promoting change behavior.
Accelerated Resolution Therapy
Accelerated Resolution Therapy (A.R.T.) is an innovative psychotherapy technique designed to rapidly resolve psychological distress. It integrates elements of various therapies, including imagery, rescripting, and eye movements similar to those used in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR). ART is particularly effective in addressing traumatic memories, anxiety, depression, and PTSD.
ART is efficient, often requiring fewer sessions than traditional therapy, without needing to talk more than wanted about the trauma.
Safe and Sound
Safe and Sound Protocol (SSP) is a therapeutic tool designed to reduce stress and anxiety by modulating the auditory system. Developed on the basis of Polyvagal Theory, SSP primarily targets the body's physiological state to enhance social engagement and emotional regulation.
This therapy involves listening to specially filtered music that has been processed to train the auditory pathways associated with perceiving human speech. By emphasizing certain frequencies and reducing others, the therapy aims to recalibrate the nervous system, particularly the vagus nerve, which plays a critical role in controlling the heart rate and managing the fight or flight response.
SSP is typically delivered through a series of listening sessions, using headphones, under the guidance of a trained professional. It has been found effective in helping individuals with trauma, anxiety, and various other emotional and behavioral challenges.
Psychological Testing
Mindful Growth offers psychological diagnostic and independent educational evaluations using a variety of professional assessments. Testing is individualized to meet the needs of each client to ensure accurate diagnosis and useful recommendations. Here is an overview that explains how testing works.
Common requests for evaluation include: Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), Autism Spectrum Disorder, Intellectual Disabilities, Anxiety, Disabilities of Development, and Learning Disabilities. Mindful Growth also employs Nationally Certified School Psychologists who can conduct independent psycho-educational evaluations (for IEP consideration). Clients interested in psychoeducational evaluation are encouraged to first contact their local educational agency, as psychoeducational evaluations are available to all students in accordance with state and federal law.
